Hands on Learning for All Children
by Warner M. Greene Ed.S.
Warner Greene's Science class makes hands on activities fun!!!!
Students explore various opportunities to learn alternative energy sources by building windmills that light homes, solar helicopters that activate upon introducing light sources, and hydroelectric dams with spinning wheels that represent the spinning turbines that produce electricity for towns and cities. Students also embrace technol
ogy by doing extensive computer research on their respective topics as well as participate in power point presentations using the SmartBoard, and provide feedback from videos on related issues. I am very passionate about the Science Technology Engineering Art & Mathematic, STEAM, program as a means to encourage minority students to choose those career fields. I found that females and students of color are underrepresented in these areas.
